Background and History

Nuvico started out in 1988 with the development of technology required to produce windshield glass-repair resins for the automotive industry. By 1993 the Vitrifix range was launched and has been a fixture in glass repair ever since. Today, more than half of all windshield repair in South Africa is carried out by technicians using the Vitrifix Range.

By 1995 we realised that many of the ingredients we required were simply not available and so began our journey onto organic synthesis of prepolymetric molecules called Oligomers. These custom made in-house products gave us the ability to tailor products to our specific needs and would pave the way for world leading innovations in the field of cosmetic nail care

In 2003 the first cosmetic nail care UV-cure product was released through Bio Sculpture International and Calbrook. Since then we have supplied them a range of gels, to salons from Tokyo to New York spanning sixteen years and over forty four countries .

The product ranges have been underpinned by in-house synthesis of designer molecules known as Oligomers. In recent years our focus has shifted toward the creation of new molecules that are derived using plant-based resources whilst phasing out the use of petroleum based materials. Bio-Renewable Carbon (BRC) is an emerging field of chemistry and we will continue to monitor the raw material life cycles “From Seed to Salon” to ensure that BRC is commercialised via modern agricultural practices and standards where animals, their habitats, and soils are not harmed in the process and food sources are never threatened.

In 2018 the first range of BRC-based LED-cure nail products heralded the start of a new era in cosmetic nail treatment.
